Manager of Community Learning and Engagement

Sheldon Museum of Art seeks a Manager of Community Learning and Engagement to connect a broad and diverse array of community members—including adults, families, teens, early childhood, K–12 students and educators, and lifelong learners—with Sheldon’s exhibitions, collection, and programs. The person in this position centers and catalyzes local, regional, and national communities through innovative learning initiatives and meaningful bi-directional partnerships including a long-standing relationship with Lincoln Public Schools (LPS). They lead, manage, and evolve a volunteer docent program supporting the LPS partnership, oversee the museum’s social media engagement, and develop and implement dynamic and inclusive public programs that bring the museum to life for both frequent and infrequent museum visitors.

The Manager of Community Learning and Engagement also works closely with Sheldon’s engagement and curatorial teams to develop and implement orientation, wayfinding, and in-gallery interpretive tools that activate the museum’s space and ensure that Sheldon is an inviting and inspiring place for every visitor. Reporting to the Associate Director for Learning, Engagement, and Public Practice, and working in close collaboration with the Curator for Academic Engagement and the Manager of Visitor Experience, this team member supports all facets of Sheldon’s learning and engagement initiatives in alignment with the museum’s mission to inspire inquiry and discovery for campus, local, statewide, and national stakeholders.

Membership and Development Coordinator

The Membership and Development Coordinator plays a critical role in raising operating funds and engaging member and donor communities with Sheldon Museum of Art. The person in this position is responsible for all aspects of managing and building the Sheldon Art Association (SAA) membership program including: providing excellent customer service; strategic planning and growth; planning and implementing engaging member events; developing effective communication and marketing strategies; and increasing member renewal, retention, upgrades, and acquisition. They are responsible for managing the member/donor database, including processing acknowledgements and payments. The Membership and Development Coordinator provides critical support to development program activities including special events, annual campaigns, and prospect research. They also serve as an administrative liaison to the SAA Board of Trustees.
