First Friday at Sheldon: Students respond to the collection

Friday, April 7, 2017 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sheldon Museum of Art

University of Nebraska art students offer their take on Sheldon’s permanent collection. Clay sculptures, American impressionism, and works on paper serve as their inspiration.

Students Katie and Phan will demonstrate the clay techniques of wheel throwing and hand-building. Singer/songwriter Andrea von Kampen will perform from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

In conjunction with an exhibition of photographs from the Farm Security Administration era, The Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska will screen its short film "The Idea of a Land Ethic," which features photography by Amanda Breitbach and fosters dialogue about agriculture and food production. The 15-minute film will play continuously from 5 to 7 p.m. in Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium.
